Updated: October 2026 A few simple habits can make all the difference in caring for your tights. Here are five mistakes to avoid so you can put them on gently and help prevent snags. We don’t take off our jewelry Before putting on your tights, remove your jewelry, especially rings and bracelets. Jewelry can easily catch on nylon, pulling threads and creating snags. We don’t mind our nails Broken nails and rough edges can also damage your tights. Be sure to file any uneven nails before putting them on. I also suggest moisturizing your hands so they’re as soft as possible. We don’t take a seat Before putting on your tights, take a seat! I usually sit on the edge of my bed to avoid losing my balance. Standing can make it harder to adjust your tights properly. Sitting down gives you more control over your movements so you can ease the fabric into place without pulling sharply. We don’t start with one foot at a time Trying to put both feet in at once can damage your tights and make them harder to adjust. Gather one leg of your tights in your hands down to the toe, then gently slide your foot inside. Adjust the toe and heel before gradually easing the fabric up your leg. Repeat on the other side, then work both legs up a little at a time, rather than pulling only at the waistband. We don’t take our time Putting on tights isn’t a race! Take your time to ease them on and adjust them so you’ll feel comfortable throughout the day. These little habits help care for your tights so you can enjoy wearing them for longer. Now that you know the right moves, all that’s left is to choose your next favourite pair. Explore our tights collection and find a pair to complete your seasonal looks. Xo, Rachel
